New Honda City

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, launched the new Honda City with striking new looks and value added features.The New Honda City juxtaposes Honda’s superior design and enhanced premium styling. On the exterior, the new chrome front grille, restyled front and rear bumper and all new taillights accentuate the looks of the car. The newly designed and attractive 10 spoke Alloy Wheels (in select grades) add to its sporty look.



The New Honda City now comes with enhanced ground clearance of 165 mm, 5mm more than its predecessor giving it an extra bit of comfort on bumpy roads. The length of the new City is 4440 mm (20 mm longer than its predecessor).The complete range of the City has been expanded to give more options to the customers and will now be available in 5 variants – Corporate, E, S, V MT/AT and V (Sunroof) MT/AT.

The company has also added new colors in the line-up of the new City apart from existing offering. It will now be offered in Carnelian Red Pearl and Sparkling Brown Metallic which have been first time introduced in the Honda line-up. The existing colour range includes - Taffeta White, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Bold Beige Metallic and Urban Titanium Metallic.

The interiors of the New Honda City incorporate an elegant and attractive design. The plush Beige interiors with high quality seat fabric and improved modern Centre Control Panel with stylish Chrome fittings gives the car an upmarket feel. The New Honda City sports a soft lit Blue Meter Graphic which lends even more premiumness to the car.

The Honda City comes equipped with a 1.5L, 4 cylinder new generation i-VTEC engine that delivers a good balance of 118PS power along with excellent fuel economy of 16.8 km/l (Test results as per Rule 115 of CMVR). In line with the Honda’s policy of reducing impact on the environment the engine is E10 compliant and has Euro IV emission levels.

The newly introduced V (Sunroof) grade of the New City now comes with a sunroof which has been introduced in this segment for the first time and adds to the premiumness of the car even more.The introduction of new features like Cruise Control System and Turn indicators on ORVM in New City 1.5V and V (Sunroof) complement the look of the car and make it plush with a luxurious feel.

The City 1.5E will now be offered with Beige interiors and addition of Integrated Advanced Audio System while City 1.5S will have added value in form of Alloy Wheels.The Corporate grade of the City comes with all new Black interiors and will appeal to customers who are looking for affordability in a premium sedan.

The Safety of passengers and pedestrians is a first priority for Honda. Honda City is fully loaded with various active and passive safety features as standard including ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with Brake Assist (BA), Dual SRS airbags, pre-tensioner seat belts and G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) body with a high integrity survival zone. The front body structure of the Honda City ensures advanced pedestrian safety features.

The 3rd Generation Honda City has been the winner of numerous Auto Awards including the most prestigious ‘Indian Car of the Year 2009’ (ICOTY) Award. Its instant success is testified by the fact that it has sold nearly 1.36 lakh units since its launch in September 2008 and cumulatively 3.76 lakhs units since its first launch in India in 1998.

Bookings for the New City has already started at all Honda dealers nationwide and deliveries will begin only from January 2012.

Get Ride On Honda Aviator with 110cc Engine

Yesterday I have visited a Show Room and seen this beautiful Aviator. Yeah! It is new Honda Aviator with 110cc Engine. Honda has an extremely popular model Activa in the Indian market which has a waiting period of at least three months. The lesser known model is Aviator which is currently available with 102cc engine. Honda intends to promote its Aviator model in India with a new engine. The new Aviator model with 110 cc engine is scheduled to be launched shortly. It is available in two models - Standard and Deluxe and five appealing colors viz., Space Silver, Monsoon Gray, Berry Purple, Pearl Igneous Black and Rebel Red.

Honda Activa is currently available with 110 cc engine and the same engine will now power the new Aviator model. Aviator already comes with disk break option in the front wheel. The new model will also have new features like body colour grab rail and key shutter system. The new model will come in two variants – Aviator and Aviator Deluxe. The on road price of top end model is expected to be around Rs. 55,000 which will be Rs. 6000 higher than the current model.

With new models coming like Mahindra Flyte and new scooter coming up from TVS Motors, Honda is planning new strategies to keep upbeat in the gearless scooter market in India.

Honda : What Next

Honda Motor Co. is looking beyond Brazil, India and other big emerging economics for the next phase of growth at its motorcycle business by working its way into markets where small, no-name Chinese and Indian brands have grabbed the lead. However, the company has declined to give timeline for entering the “Next” markets.

Honda, the world’s top motorcycle maker with a share of roughly 30 per cent, has been growing consistently - thanks to surging sales in Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia. But it misread latent motorcycle demand in Africa, Eastern Europe and most of Latin America.

“We realized about two or three years ago that we had underestimated the pace of income growth in these countries, “Tatsuhiro Oyama, chief operating officer for Honda’s motorcycle operations, told.
“In the meantime, Chinese and Indian makers came in and created a significant market of cheap motorcycles and we found ourselves behind, “ he said.
Honda estimates global motorcycle demand at around 50 million units this year, of which just 4 million or so are in the United States, Japan and Western Europe. Around 38 million was in Southeast Asia, China, India and Brazil, where Honda leads Yamaha Motor Company.

Oyama said the other grouping – which Honda has internally started calling the “Next” markets – will account for roughly 8 million new motorcycle sales this year.

Honda is trying to come up with a winning strategy for these markets, where const-competitiveness will be key. Oyama said. That probably meant making more use of low-cost countries such as China and India to develop and build such products – something he said Honda not done effectively until now.

“UP to now, we have relied on Japan for product development, and then we had built locally. But China is fast becoming the benchmark for low-cost bikes so we have to change our ways.”

No Timeline:

Though Oyama did not say when they will enter the markets in earnest, but said it was urgent. He had been to Argentina last week, and was off to lean about the Nigerian market next month, he said.

For this year, Oyama said Honda expects to boost motorcycle sales by more than 10 per cent to around 15 million units.

“People talk about the car business being difficult, but you don’t hear that about the motorcycle business. That’s because all the economic growth is happeing in “developing markets’, and that’s where most of the motorcycle demand is,” he said.

Japan’s No. 2 carmaker, which began as a motorcycle maker in 1949, sold 13.5 million motorcycles worldwide in 2007, and has a goal of lifting that by a third to 18 million units in 2010.

Oyama said potential sales from the “Next” markets were not part of the 2010 target, meaning the 18 million figures was the “very minimum” Honda expects to sell in 2010. There were also signs of a pickup in demand for commuter bikes in North America as consumers seek fuel efficiency, he said.

Honda’s motorcycle business tends to fall under the radar but its contribution to the company is sizeable and growing.

The division made up around 13 per cent of Honda’s total revenues in the business year to end-March 2009but accounted for 16 per cent of operating profit.

Honda’s motorcycle division has a higher profit margin than that from cars. Last year, the division had an operating profit to-revenue margin of 9.7 per cent against 7.0 per cent for the car division.
