Hyundai Future in India

Hyundai cars need no introduction in India. Hyundai Santro experienced unprecedented success with its zip-drive and state of art driving technology. Hyundai Motors India Limited is now country’s second largest car manufacturer and has an impressive portfolio to boast about. Such a success story does not keep Hyundai laid back and relaxed. In fact, Hyundai has several plans laid out for the next few years in India. Hyundai is bringing its 800cc small car in 2011 which will compete with M800 and other small cars from Fiat, Nissan, Renault and even Maruti’s strongest portfolio of small cars.

Hyundai seriously lacks its presence in the SUV segment and its model Tucson had not been able to make a strong call in the segment. Now Hyundai intends to make up for the falling Tucson’s sales by bringing its most stylish model Santa Fe. It is one of the most successful SUVs of Hyundai across the globe and the company will phase out Tucson with the launch of Santa Fe in early 2010.

It’s already raining SUVs in India and it is one of the fastest growing segments in the country. The decision to review the future of Tucson in the Indian market comes on the heels of high competition from other models in the same segment. Only three units of Tucson have been sold in the past four months. "We might change our SUV model from Tucson to Santa Fe in the Indian market next year. We will try to locally assemble the Santa Fe at our Chennai plant," HMIL MD HS Lheem.

On The Launch of Hyundai i20 CRDi Diesel Version

Hyundai Motors India Limited is planning to launch the i20 CRDi diesel model in India. The model has already been spotted doing test drive near the Chennai plant. The company may launch either of the two options of the 1.4L CRDi diesel engine producing 75PS or 90PS. The new model is expected in the showrooms by sometime in July 2009. However, there is no official statement from the company so far regarding the launch, specifications or the price.

Honda has recently launched its small car model Jazz in the Indian market which has been perceived as an over-priced model. On the other hand, i10 and i20 have been well-received in this segment and a new diesel model of Hyundai’s premium hatchback will lend the much needed leverage in the sales. The new CRDi model is expected to be priced nearly Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 100,000 over and above the existing price of its petrol variant.

Grab Discount Offers in June from Car Manufacturers in India

June seems to be the season of heavy discounts for Indian car buyers. Auto manufacturers are offering varying discounts across all their models to lure the Indian customers. May-June this year beat the December discounts already. Car companies are offering discounts starting from Rs. 5000 to up to Rs. 1 lakh on their cars in India.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is offering discounts on nearly all the cars in its product portfolio. It is offering discount of Rs. 13,000 on Omni and Maruti 800, 35,000 on WagonR, 19,000 on Alto, 37,000 on Zen Estilo and 25,000 on SX4. The new model Maruti A-Star is also cheaper by Rs. 24,000 this month. However, latest and popular models do not have such attractive discount packages. Maruti Swift is available at a discount of Rs. 5000 only and there is no discount on the latest model Maruti Ritz.

I know all you purchasers wonders that how it happens? But there is no any tact or magic. It is the decision of car manufacturers that hefty price discounts on one particular car model can help give focus on that model and increase sales for a brief period of time. So, I think it is a good time to buy your beloved car at home.

Other auto makers are also offering discounts ranging from Rs. 10,000 to up to one lakh on their cars. General Motors, Ford India and Tata Motors have their cars lined up with various discounts across their product portfolio. Hyundai is already offering an exchange program to its customers to upgrade their cars to a bigger car without changing the EMI. “Monsoon always sees some discounting but this time the cuts are steeper,” said Rajiv Dube, president-passenger car division, Tata Motors.

So even before the monsoon in India, its already raining discounts in the auto sector. With additional excise duty cut benefits, cars couldn’t have been cheaper before.
